Two of our team members recently attended the Meat and Livestock Australia Ambassadors for the Red Meat Industry Course. Sophie Wells, Livestock Program Manager, and Toby Kellaway, Livestock Development Coordinator, took part in the program across February and March.
The Red Meat Ambassadors course is tailored to young industry professionals who are united in their commitment to building awareness and understanding of the industry, and the health and environmental benefits of red meat production and consumption. Presenters drew on real-world, industry-relevant scenarios and authentic storytelling to inspire confidence and strengthen connections between ambassadors and consumers. The program covered conversational skills, social media tactics and media training.
Presenters included Samantha Jamieson from MLA, who spoke on the program’s history, its importance within the industry, and the work alumni are undertaking to build awareness among consumers. Deanna Lush and Alistair Lawson from Ag Communicators conveyed the power behind a values-based approach to answering consumer questions related to the industry. Heidi Wright from Wright Social spoke on the social media tools and tactics that can be used to promote understanding and engagement with consumer groups. James Lush from James Lush Consulting equipped ambassadors with the skills and knowledge needed to provide confident commentary on the red meat industry.
