Social Post Feedlot Trial (2026) V3

We are proud to welcome back the Bindaree Food Group + Colin Say & Co Feedlot Trial and Carcass Competition for 2026. Now entering its third year, the trial continues to grow in both scale and impact, and we look forward to producers joining us as the program builds on its strong foundations and delivers even greater insight and opportunity, with entries opening on the 15th of April 2026.

The trial has been developed to give producers a clear, end‑to‑end understanding of how their cattle perform throughout the supply chain. From induction through the feedlot phase and ultimately to carcass assessment, it offers valuable feedback on weight gain, feed efficiency and carcass performance. More than just numbers on a page, it allows producers to see performance firsthand, gaining a deeper appreciation of how genetics and management decisions translate into commercial results.

A key enhancement to the 2026 program is the introduction of genotype testing at induction, available to all participating vendors. This new offering provides early insight into genetic potential and expected performance, giving producers another powerful tool to pair genetic data with feedlot and carcass outcomes. By combining these insights, the trial supports informed, data‑driven decision making and improved benchmarking for future breeding and production programs.

The trial will kick off in July, with IRLX Inverell as the main delivery location. Subject on interest, we’ll also open additional delivery centres across New South Wales and Queensland to create more opportunities for our producers. Before cattle are trucked to the feedlot, producers will have the opportunity to view all entries at IRLX, allowing for valuable peer benchmarking. Hoof judging will take place at IRLX, with winners announced prior to departure.

All cattle will then be trucked to Myola Feedlot, located near Croppa Creek, North Star, in the heart of Northern New South Wales. Myola Feedlot currently holds a licence to feed 20,000 head of cattle, with plans to expand capacity to 35,000 head.

At approximately day 85 on feed, Bindaree will host a Feedlot Open Day at Myola, inviting competing producers to inspect their cattle and engage directly with the operation. This open‑day setting offers an invaluable opportunity to assess progress and outcomes under uniform feeding conditions. In 2026, producers attending the open day will also have the opportunity to select their strongest pen of three head to nominate for entry into the BEEF27 Carcass Competition, providing a clear pathway to benchmark their cattle on a national stage.

Following processing, producers will also be invited to view their carcasses after grading, providing firsthand exposure to individual carcass performance. New this year, this will be complemented by a carcass information session, designed to give producers a deeper understanding of grading outcomes, carcass data and the feedback received through the trial. This session aims to strengthen knowledge and help translate results into practical on‑farm improvements.

The trial will conclude with a Presentation Night, celebrating performance and participation across the program. Participants will compete for a range of awards recognising performance across the entire supply chain, including Individual and Group categories.

As the trial moves into its third year, the Bindaree Food Group + Colin Say & Co Feedlot Trial and Carcass Competition remains a valuable opportunity for producers focused on performance, feedback and continuous improvement — delivering insights that extend well beyond the feedlot gate.
