Food Safety & Quality Month is an opportunity for us to come together and focus on the standards and behaviours that help us deliver safe, consistent, high‑quality food. Across all of our sites, every team plays a part in this, and the this month we’ll highlight the good work already happening while strengthening the habits that keep our products, our people, and our customers safe.
Throughout the month, you can nominate a teammate who consistently leads by example — someone who shows care, pride, and strong food safety and quality habits every day. These are the people who set the tone for their teams and help us maintain the standards we’re known for.
On Wednesday 18th February, we’ll be hosting a special webinar presented by Damien Alexander (Director, Food Network Solutions), an award‑winning food safety professional with over three decades of experience across food safety and biosecurity, working from paddock to plate globally. Damien will share real case studies, explore why food safety is everyone’s responsibility, and outline the everyday choices and behaviours that strengthen food safety culture.
We’ve introduced a new Food Safety reporting option in Donesafe to make it easier and quicker to raise potential hazards, near misses, or anything that doesn’t look right. Your reports help us act early, learn from issues, and keep our sites safe.
Please remember: immediate threats to food safety must be dealt with in real time before being logged.
Food safety is the foundation of everything we do. The way we clean, check, handle, and verify at every step protects our customers and the trust they place in us. Managing hazards — biological (like E. coli and Salmonella), physical (like metal fragments, plastic pieces, or bone splinters), chemical residues, and allergens — is how we keep risk low and confidence high. When something doesn’t look right, we act. Safe food doesn’t happen by chance — it happens because we do the right things, the right way, every day.
Quality is what our customers see and trust. It shows in the care we take at every step — from animal handling and processing through to accurate trimming, clear labels, correct weights, and well‑presented packs. Small misses can lead to rework, complaints, and lost time; consistency builds confidence. When we follow our standards and fix issues in the moment, we deliver exactly what customers expect, every time.
Systems only work when people bring them to life. Clean knives only protect food when they’re cleaned every time. Temperature checks only work when we take them seriously. The choices we make — especially when no one is watching — shape our culture and our results. When we lead by example, follow the process, and correct issues early, we protect our customers and each other, one decision at a time.
This week brings the pieces together — the controls that reduce risk, the workmanship customers can trust, and the behaviours that make standards real on the floor. We check, correct, and record to keep contamination risks low and product to spec. We verify against customer standards, trace every pack, and act on feedback to keep improving. When we do each step well and support one another, we deliver safe food and consistent quality, every shift.
From humble beginnings we’ve grown to deliver tailored protein solutions from the paddock to the plate across Australian and international markets. We are at the forefront of food trends with a global protein network, and believe in a connected, sustainable Australian beef supply chain.
